Sunday 3rd July
The CDAS midsummer guided walk with James Kenny will start at 10.30am at the Bignor Hill carpark
(NGR 497370 112930; take the lane due south from Bignor, past the farmhouse and farm buildings
and up the steep hill).
It will be a circular walk of about 5 miles on the downs above Bignor, and will
include some gentle slopes. Bring drink and a packed lunch, as there will be nowhere
to buy refreshments en-route. Suitable clothing, including wet weather gear, will almost
certainly be essential.
As previously there will be a maximum of 16 places on the walk, so if you would like to come along,
please email David Rudkin
or contact James if you need any further information on the walk itself.

Saturday 10th September
The Spring Newsletter provided information on two proposed CDAS visits for 2011. However,
due to the current redevelopment proposals for the Mary Rose site and museum, the private 'behind the scenes'
visit at the present time would be rather complicated due to problems of access to some of the artefacts
and many would not be available to view during this period. In view of this, the visit has been
postponed until after the Museum redevelopment has been completed.
Details of the visit to the St Mary Magdalen Hospital archaeological site dig by the
University of Winchester and also to the St Cross Hospital at Winchester on the 10th September 2011
were reported in the Autumn Newsletter. |

Sunday 2nd October
This year’s October walk with James Kenny will start at 10.30am at the Whiteways Roundabout car park,
where the A284 and the A29 meet, about 2½ miles north of Arundel. The proposed route
is six miles, which is about a mile longer than usual, and there will be one
moderate/severe hill. At lunchtime it is hoped to be near to the Bridge pub at Amberley.
Please bring food and drink and wear suitable clothing (that means a raincoat!).
As previously there will be a maximum of 16 places on the walk, so if you would like to come along,
please email David Rudkin
or contact James if you need any further information on the walk itself.
